Benefits of Women's Self-Defense Classes in Ogden Utah

When the #MeToo movement went viral in October 2017, the fire of a national conversation was reignited to “help survivors of sexual assault…find pathways to healing.” This dialogue has given a new voice to a sobering statistic that tragically isn’t new in our society. According to RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network), “1 out of every 6 American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime.” Other statistics point to as many as one in three women being victimized. At MP USA, we are committed to lowering the odds of ANY woman in our reach being assaulted.

Helping women feel empowered to defend themselves against an attacker is one of the many benefits of women’s self-defense classes in Ogden Utah. There are also many more! Becoming skilled in self-defense not only increases personal safety, but also helps participants develop physical and mental strength, build confidence and enjoy social engagement with like-minded women. When you participate in one of our Women’s Ultimate Personal Protection and Street Survival events (WUPPASS), you become a force of strength in taking charge of your own personal safety and protecting your loved ones.

Our next WUPPASS event will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018, and registration is taking place now. Space is limited to 50 participants, and you won’t want to risk missing out! Since 2003, we’ve been teaching women of all ages how to evade, engage and disable attackers, and we’re proud to be endorsed by the Ogden YCC Rape Recovery Program and the Salt Lake Rape Recovery Center. Our purpose in providing WUPASS training is to equip you with an arsenal of real-world self-defense weapons including courage, confidence, and competence. Here’s what we’ll help you accomplish:

Feel SafeWomen's Ultimate Personal Protection and Street Survival Self-Defense Workshop

Sir Francis Bacon’s famous 16th-century quote, “Knowledge is Power,” is real. When you know what to do in the event of an attack, you can feel safe in most circumstances. In fact, developing self-defense skills is one of the best preventive actions you can take. Predators most often prey on the weak. As a participant in our WUPPASS program, you’ll gain skills to help you watch smarter, walk taller and ward off would-be attackers before they strike because they’ll see that you carry yourself with confidence. You WON’T be an easy target!

Some people advise women not to defend themselves in an attack for fear of being assaulted more severely or even being killed. They advise women to “survive” the attack and then pursue a conviction of their attacker through the criminal justice system. Others suggest that women fight back with all they’ve got. At MP USA, we believe self-defense techniques are tools you can use to improve your odds of escape and survival in a threatening situation. From evasive maneuvers to responsive tactics, the skills WUPPASS teaches are empowering.
