If you have spent your entire life without vision, what if there was a way that you could “see”? Even if your sight is excellent, wouldn’t it be nice to be able to identify and avoid obstacles in pitch-black darkness? At MP USA, we teach the discipline of Vibravision: a twist on martial arts in Ogden Utah. This practice has the ability to do the above and much more. Let’s take a closer look at Vibravision on YouTube!
Why Is Vibravision a Twist on Martial Arts in Ogden Utah?
The Indonesian Royal Family’s martial art known as Merpati Putih, or MP, is the source of the Vibravision program. For decades, Vibravision has been used as a mobility and orientation method to help blind people find their way. And, in place of night vision technology, Indonesia’s elite military special forces, called Kopassus, train in Vibravision.
Not only will Vibravision mean a whole new world opening up for the blind community, but it also has the potential to revolutionize how all humans interact with the natural world. At MP USA, it is our goal to help each and every person we can.
History of Vibravision
Merpati Putih has been in the Indonesian Royal Family for centuries. Up until just a few decades ago, only the Royal Family, their guards, and the army were allowed to practice this martial art. Vibravision is just one of the disciplines of MP. To “see” in the dark, it was used to fight opposing forces at night.
In East Jakarta in 1989, five MP members started training in Vibravision with one of the two eleventh-generation royal heirs to the MP knowledge, Mas Budi. Soon after, the first blind people were also trained by Mas Budi. Each day, he would pick the students up, train them, and return them home. Vibravision training slowly began to spread throughout Indonesia. In fact, in 1993, Kopassus began learning the discipline, which has become standard practice for certain Kopassus teams.
In 1999, Vibravision finally made its way to America. Mike and Nate Zeleznick, founders of MP USA, arranged for many Vibravision trainers and specialists to come to Utah to demonstrate the skill at Weber State University as well as the Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind. This was widely covered by the media. They also traveled to our nation’s capital.
Since then, Nate and Mike have trained intensively and climbed the ranks of Merpati Putih. They have also become skilled teachers of Vibravision and now offer training sessions to people of all abilities.
How Can You Learn Vibravision?
Currently, there is only one place in the Western Hemisphere where you can learn Merpati Putih and Vibravision. MP USA offers Vibravision martial arts in Ogden, Utah. We offer three courses that vary in length and intensity:
- Weekend Introductory Course – For those interested in sampling what Vibravision has to offer, this is a sixteen-hour weekend course.

We want to offer the blind every opportunity to see, so we work with the Vibravision Foundation for the Blind to help sight-impaired individuals to afford the cost of tuition. Benefactors can sponsor an applicant or donate to the foundation to help fund blind students. Also, the foundation helps create crowdfunding pages for those in need.
In 2017, MP USA is offering programs for both sighted and sight-impaired students. You are invited to contact us at (866) 666-7872 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you have a serious interest in learning Vibravision martial arts in Ogden Utah.
